Dive Computers-Console Models

Dive computers enable today’s divers to dive safely on every dive. The function in the place of the Navy Dive Tables that have been used since the inception of scuba diving. They continuously measure depth so that a diver can safely descend and ascend on every dive. They enable divers to spend more time at depth than the dive tables call for. They time your surface interval so that you can safely dives multiple times in one day.

There are many different makes and models with different features. This post will have only console style dive computers. We’ll cover wrist-style models in another post.  The type that you purchase depends on the type of diving that you enjoy. For this category we will be presenting a variety of makes and models. Choose carefully. The dive computer is among the most expensive piece of equipment that recreational divers will purchase. Expect your dive computer to be with you for a long time.

  • Oceanic “Veo 100″ Dive Computer SWIV Double Gauge Combo. The Veo 100 is an economical and easy to use computer with state of the art features. Pressing just one button easily accesses all of its functions. Here it comes in a console with a Pressure Gauge. The gauge tracks tank pressures up to 5,000 psi and has a thermometer at the base of its luminescent face. The Swivel Console allows custom positioning of your instruments with an allen key. The Veo offers large, easy to read alphanumeric displays and color coded graphs where green means “go”, yellow means “caution” and red means “stop.” The computer can be turned on before your dive, but if you forget to do this, it turns itself on underwater.   • Uwatec Aladin Prime 3 Gauge Computer Console. The Aladin Prime is an easy to use, compact, multi-function instrument designed for decompression and nitrox dives from 21 to 50%. The Aladin Prime can be turned on manually or will turn on automatically when submerged. It is shown here in a console with an analog pressure gauge and compass for navigation. The Analog Pressure Gauge tracks pressures from 0 to 6000 psi and is color coded red from 500 to 0 psi.
